KÔL x Kubota: a new partnership for patients with Stargardt disease

KÔL is very proud to announce its collaboration with Kubota Vision Inc. through the signing of a supply and licence agreement to facilitate access in France to emixustat, a drug candidate for the treatment of Stargardt disease (STGD1), under a Compassionate Access programme.

Stargardt disease is a rare inherited retinal disease that usually appears in childhood or adolescence and causes progressive loss of vision. To date, no approved treatment is available.

Emixustat is being developed as a visual cycle modulator. It targets RPE65, an enzyme involved in this cycle, with the aim of reducing the accumulation of toxic metabolites in the retina, a phenomenon involved in the pathophysiology of Stargardt disease.

Through this collaboration, KÔL and Kubota Vision are combining their expertise to help advance therapeutic innovation in rare retinal diseases and meet patients’ still unmet needs.
